The Richards Firm Supports Open Door Food Pantry Through the Holidays

Recently, our firm dropped off various items to the local Open Door Pantry in an effort to assist others this holiday season. The Richards Firm will also be providing financial support.

The Open Door Food Pantry has been serving needy communities in the Butler County area since 1981. The organization strives to help individuals and families on an emergency basis. Assistance is based upon income and other factors. The Open Door Food Pantry uses virtual case management software shared with other food pantries in the area to insure that real needs are being met.

In 2005, the Pantry became a choice pantry, which means that clients can select from grocery items that they will take home enabling clients to select items based upon their likes rather than relying on a stranger to pick grocery items that may not fit an individual’s tastes. The Open Door Food Pantry encourages healthy food choices.

You can help by volunteering or by donating personal items such as shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine care products, and cleaning supplies among other items. Financial support is welcome too.

The Open Door Food Pantry is located at 800 South Front Street in the heart of downtown Hamilton. When you drop off items, be sure to check out the nearby greenhouses at Hamilton Urban Gardens, an organization we volunteered for this summer.

The Open Door Food Pantry is a non-profit operated by a Board of Directors. It employs one part-time staff person at the Pantry. Volunteers continue to be a vital part of their work.

Community members, school groups, and anyone else who is interested in volunteering for this great organization can learn more at www.opendoorfoodpantry.org. The Pantry operates through funds donated by individuals, churches, other community businesses and organizations and corporate grants. The Pantry also relies on food products from many of those sources.

At The Richards Firm, we are doing everything that we can to make 2021 better than last year by supporting various local organizations.
