Frequently Asked Questions
We do not charge by the hour or charge retainers. We work on a contingency fee basis, which means we do not charge a fee unless we recover in your case. Our fee is contingent upon that recovery, which means we charge a percentage of the monies recovered in your case. We also pay case expenses that arise while building your case
We will determine any and all insurance coverages available to you. You may be entitled to liability coverage in addition to public and private health insurance to help you pay your medical bills.
You may also have insurance that provides you with medical payments coverage to cover medical bills and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage to help compensate you when another driver does not have any or carries too little insurance. You may also be entitled to workers’ compensation coverage or disability insurance coverage. We will review any insurance policy to determine coverages that may be available to you.
We always make sure to coordinate any coverages to best protect our clients.
For legal matters, time limits for initiating claims are termed statutes of limitations.
The law dictates specific durations within which claims must be brought, varying according to the nature of the claim. For instance, under Ohio law, individuals have two years from the date of injury to either settle or file their bodily injury claim in the appropriate court. These statutes are subject to variation based on the case type.
The best way to get an understanding of your specific timeline is to speak to a legal professional. Schedule a free consultation with us to get started.
You should always be the one choosing your medical providers.
If you’ve been hurt or need medical care for reasons unrelated to someone else’s carelessness, your first stop is your doctors. If you need extra-specialized treatment, you’d count on their recommendations. Remember, filing a personal injury claim doesn’t alter this basic truth, no matter what others might say.
Stick with the medical providers you have trust most.
The earlier you act, the more likely your case will succeed. It never hurts to speak to a trusted attorney right away.
At The Richards Firm, you don’t owe anything unless we win your case. We’re happy to answer any initial questions and help you understand your options in our free, no-commitment consultation.
